Skinny Guy Massive Muscle Building Lesson 8: Build Bigger Biceps
In our last lesson for skinny guys we took a good hard look at the exercise selection that you're using as you go about completing your program. It's vital that you're choosing the best exercises to add into your routine because this can really have a large effect on how quickly you build up lean muscle mass or not.
Doing the wrong exercises day after day after day – or too many that just don't deliver is a quick way to short your progress and not see the results you'd ideally like.
For many skinny guys, one of the primary things that they want to achieve with their training is – you guessed it, bigger arms. The arms are typically always a large focus for any guy who wants to build muscle and as such, it's important that you're taking the time to plan your workout around this goal.

Let's look at a few of the important things to consider when it comes to arm training and getting bigger arms.
Remember Compound Movements Work The Arm Muscles Too
The very first thing that you must remember is that your arms are actually going to be worked whenever you're doing the compound exercises within your program. So for instance, when you do a bench press, guess what? You'll be hitting both those biceps and triceps.
Likewise, when you do a shoulder press, again those triceps will get worked. Pull-ups will target the back muscles very nicely and in a similar fashion, bent over rows will also work them to their full extent.
For this reason, it's important that you always keep this in mind when both judging how much additional isolation work you have to add to target these muscle groups as well as determining whether or not you could be potentially overtraining.
Remember, your muscles will require that 48 hours of rest between sessions so if you plan on doing chest one day and shoulders the next, you're setting yourself up for major problems. Since both the biceps and the shoulders will be worked on chest day, doing them again together the day after would be a very unwise move.
Instead, place your tricep training on any chest training days and your bicep training on any back training days. This will ensure they get worked along with the compound exercises.
Hit Arms With Supersets and Drop Sets
When it comes time to adding the individual exercises for the actual arm muscles, it may be worth your while to consider supersets and drop sets. Both of these are going to help push the intensity of the workout that much harder and while a skinny guy should never use these principles with the compound lifts he's doing, with isolation it can be helpful.
Just do keep in mind that you'll still want to keep the total sets performed of either of these types of lifting techniques to 2-3 sets max per workout. Doing any more than this could quickly lead to overtraining.
Back Off And Give The Arms Time To Rest
Finally, don't forget to rest. While it may be tempting to go in and hit the arms three or four times a week, they do need time off to grow. Don't hit them again until you're certain that you're recovered and will be able to push them to the max with the next workout you do.
