Review Of The Joel Marion's 1000 Calorie Challenge Program

If you're like me, you want a workout program that is geared towards helping you lose weight as fast as possible. You don't need your hand held as you slowly work towards making minor lifestyle changes that will add up 'over time'. You want a program that takes you from where you are now to where you want to be – in only a few weeks time.

That's why I decided to give the 1000 Calorie Challenge program a try. The premise of this program is that as you move through it, you'll be performing extremely intense workout sessions that have you building up to a total calorie burn rate of 1000 calories.

If you're new to working out, this is a massive number and something that most workout programs won't even come close to.

To burn 1000 calories from a single workout means that if you do three of those workouts a week, you'll be losing one solid pound of body fat – and that's without making any changes in your diet. Fortunately the program also comes with a diet plan to follow which doubles the rate of fat loss you're going to see.

The authors of this program, Arnel Ricafranca and Joel Marion, are not new to the fat loss scene. Both have fully developed fat loss systems in place already and have now expanded upon their system to bring you their best program yet – this 1000 calorie challenge.

But make no mistake about it. After giving it a try I realized just how intense some of those workouts really are. If you're someone who likes a slow and steady pace, these aren't for you. But on the other hand, if you're someone who likes to test your limits and see what you can handle, you are going to love this program and the results that it gets you.

The 1000 Calorie Challenge Principles

This workout program is based around a concept that the authors termed R-Quattro. This essentially means that each and every workout you do, one element is adjusted so the program becomes more and more intense as you go through it.

The four 'R-Quattro' elements that get modified are reps, rest, resistance, and rounds. By changing these elements, you can guarantee that you never hit a training plateau and that each successive workout in the program become builds upon the last.

The end result is that you're not only burning fat faster then but you're also getting in incredibly shape over a short period of time.

The workout itself has you utilizing a number of bodyweight exercises and any of the strength based exercises you do perform can all be done with a simple set of dumbbells. This makes this workout perfect for anyone regardless of whether you wish to it in the gym or in the comfort of your own home.

The Stubborn Fat Protocol

What I especially liked while using the 1000 Calorie Challenge was some of the information that was included about how you're going to get the body to tap into those stubborn fat stores that prove so difficult to lose.

Most diet programs that have you cutting back on your calories and doing longer workouts in the gym attack fat from a calorie deficit point of view – you know, burn more calories than you take in and you'll lose fat.

While that works to an extent, the problem is that this will not be successful when you're dealing with that stubborn body fat that is located around the hips, thighs, and stomach for women and the lower back and stomach for men.

That fat is going to take much more to get burned off. In this program, Joel and Arnel go over how they are going to increase certain hormones in the body to stimulate the receptor sites that cause fat burning to take place so that your body finally releases this stored body fat and uses it for energy.

In every other fat loss product on the market I've seen this is completely skipped over and that's while you may see good results using it, but you'll never get really, really lean. I found out about this missing piece of the puzzle while reading through the manual in the 1000 Calorie Challenge and it finally made perfect sense. You'll find out why you never got six pack abs with other programs and why with this program, you'll easily strip those final pounds of fat off your stomach.

Who Is This Program For?

You may be tempted to think that this program is only going to be for those who are already in great shape but don't be misled. There are different phases of the program that have you working at different intensities so for someone who's never worked out before, you simply start with phase one and you'll build up to the point where you are doing the more intense workouts.

This program can be utilized by anyone – young or old, experienced or inexperienced and very overweight or just slightly overweight.

Even if you aren't interested in losing body fat but just want to get in the best shape of your life, you'll definitely accomplish that goal with this program.

Additionally, the workouts are only performed three times each week and since you are working so hard you'll see great cardiovascular benefits from it, therefore this isn't a program you'll have to devote all your free time to completing.

In as little as 90 minutes a week, you can melt fat off your body and get the ripped and lean look you're after.

What You Get

When you sign up for the 1000 Calorie Challenge, included in the program will be:

  • A modified exercise database that shows you exactly how to perform the exercises and offers number of variations for all fitness levels
  • A comprehensive training manual outlining what you need to do to get started with the workouts immediately
  • A pre-test challenge to determine where you should start at with the workout sessions
  • A training manual that allows you to quickly track your workout sessions
  • A diet manual which outlines everything you need to know to eat for maximum fat loss
  • Workout log sheets
  • The audio version of the program in case reading just isn't your thing
  • The supplement guide manual so you can learn to navigate through all the supplements out there and choose ones that will help you see better results
  • The pre-program checklist to make sure you have everything you need to get started
  • A success journal to track your progress

The Only Drawback

Since with the good usually comes the bad, if there was one thing I criticism that I have about this program it's that if you have a goal of getting as strong as possible, you may not find the workouts help you achieve that.

Because of the fact they have you moving so quickly through the workout sessions, it's hard to really develop a maximum level of strength. But that said, most of you interested in using this program will be looking for fat loss anyway, so maximum strength isn't your priority.

But for the few of you that are looking to get much stronger, you may want to choose a program that's more focused on building muscle instead.

Otherwise, if you want to just get in great shape and burn fat at an incredibly accelerated rate, you simply cannot go wrong with this program.

The Verdict

Overall, I would definitely recommend the 1000 Calorie Challenge. It uses the latest fat loss strategies to really get your body turning to its body fat stores and utilizing them for fuel throughout each and every workout session you complete.

More importantly, the 'afterburn' effect that this workout provides you with, which refers to all the calories that you'll continue to burn even after its completed will definitely set it apart from the rest. If you've ever wished that you could burn fat while you sleep, this program actually helps you do just that.

If you're someone who's willing to put in some hard work and who wants fast fat loss results, give the 1000 Calorie Challenge a try.
