How To Gain The Perfect Physique

Have you ever noticed while reading the health and fitness magazines how all the fitness jargon begins to resemble the language of Greece? “Creatine”, “aerobics” and even the small word of “gym” actually derived from the Greek language.

It should not come as a surprise that the ancient Greeks have given us words that they use. The Greeks have also given us many different concepts of physical training. According to the history books, Greeks were very healthy as well as donned athletic bodies and because of them, the Olympic Games along with many other types of sports have been implemented into our society.

The ancient Greeks have given us ideas of what the perfect body was and is. Physical fitness as well as strength was very much admired within the ancient Greek culture as is within our society universally. The human body turned into an art form as illustrated by Greek history. Balance, physiques within proportion, balance and symmetry was the aim of the Greek civilization. Because of this influence, things such as paintings, sculptures, architecture and art as a whole displayed this very eloquently.

The ideal of perfect physiques survived for many years. The influence of this type of lifestyle has influenced many great artists all over the world. This of course was inspiration to the earliest of bodybuilders. The art of bodybuilding began approximately in the beginning of the 1900s. This started to change when the sixties rolled around. Anabolic steroids and other drugs came onto the scene changing the admirable sport of bodybuilding.

The ideal body of bodybuilders eventually changed according to society. Some bodybuilders became so huge that it is obvious they disregarded the roots of basic bodybuilding. The good news is that the clues are still obvious within art.

Statues of Greek athletes contain the idea of what defines the perfect physique. Studying these artworks can reveal precisely what the ideal body use to look like. These statues do not resemble the current look of bodybuilders but they still are to be adorned due to the athletic and muscular quality. Wide shoulders along with a narrow waist were clearly traits of the classical Greek Physique. Today, that kind of tapering is still admired.

The chest on Greek statues is very much developed but not excessively. Many bodybuilders over train their chests to the point where they look bloated or even droopy. Many bodybuilders do not understand how to maximize their chests because the chest is very easy to build due to excises such as the bench press. These types of exercises are associated with having a macho image.

The limbs on a classic Greek statue are unmistakingly muscular. Obtaining huge arms and legs is undoubtedly an achievement however; the danger of overshadowing the overall shape of your body can destroy the proportion of your body’s image. A typical feature of Greek statues is the arms are slightly smaller in circumference than the neck. The calves are the same size as the arms.

The trapzius (associated with the muscles above the collarbones) were not overdone. If these were too huge, they would detract from the broad-shouldered look while throwing off the balance of the whole physique.

The Greek statues also sport a look of being gently sculpted as compared to being dramatically cut or ripped. This was achieved by reducing the body fat levels to a low percentage.

In recent years, the bodybuilding community has increased talks of making the community drug-free. Only time will tell on this issue but with the hope this will happen. The ancient Greek bodies are truly something to be admired as well as adorned. The ideal body needs to shine once again as compared to the muscle-laden body building examples we have to view within our current times.

It is not unusual for newbie’s to focus on their favorite muscles while working them with isolation techniques. There is so much more which can be achieved through compound exercises. If you are looking to build a more large physique, then compound exercises should not be overlooked.

Compound exercises involve the use of numerous muscles or joints. A great example of a compound exercise is the barbell squat. The barbell squat is primarily thought of a leg exercise. What people tend to not comprehend is that the barbell squat benefits many muscles. Performing the barbell squat you are working on your back, buttocks, legs and many other muscles.

Huge people working out in the gyms perform this exercise more than the smaller people and for good reason. They use more than one muscle simultaneously allowing them to use more weight, which places more stress on the muscles creating tears in the fibers of the muscles therefore placing more stress on the muscles or muscle growth.

If you are serious about achieving a bigger physique then compound exercises should have your utmost attention within your muscle-training regime. These movements involved simulate real life movements. They do require more balance during the motion of the exercises. The more muscle fibers you tear, the more muscle growth you will experience throughout your body.

Here are some great compound exercises you can try:

Legs: Dead lift, Lunges and Barbell squats
Back: Pull-Downs, Rows and Chin-ups
Chest: Inclined Presses, Dips and Bench Press
Arms: Twisting Dumbbell curls and Pull-ups (Close grip)
Shoulders: Hang Clean, Press and Military Press

I am not stating to completely cut out isolation exercises. I am merely stating that after you achieve the size you are happy with only then focus on isolation exercises that are lacking the growth needed with the proportion of your overall physique.

The bottom line is if you want a more huge overall physique, institute compound exercises into your regime. Compound exercises work the primary muscle groups as well as supporting muscles. Add a supporting diet to your regime, which is very important. If you implant these exercises as well as the supporting diet into your lifestyle as well as daily workouts, you are well on your way of achieving the perfect physique that even the ancient Greeks would be proud of.
