Before you dive right in and pick up the latest supplement to hit the market, it's vital that you're aware of the following outrageous supplement myths.

Supplement Myth: Always Drink A Casein Shake Before Bed
The first supplement myth to be aware of that very often circulates around is that you should be taking in a casein protein shake immediately before going to bed. Many people who are looking to build muscle will religiously down a shake before turning in for the night three or four hours after eating their last solid dinner meal.
While casein does digest more slowly in the body, nothing beats a solid food meal. If you want your body to recover optimally before your next workout, stick to a lean piece of meat. You'll see far better progress.
Leave the casein protein for during the day between your whole food meals. That's when it will help you the most.
Supplement Myth: You Can Significantly Increase Testosterone With Testosterone Boosters
The second supplement myth that many people fall for is that you can dramatically increase your testosterone with some of the testosterone boosters available. Most people involved with muscle building workouts realize that testosterone is the key hormone that's going to help you grow rapidly. The more testosterone you have in your body, the faster muscle growth typically takes place.
Unfortunately, disappointment sets in when muscle isn't built at a rapid pace and you're looking quite similar to how you were the week before.
Be realistic with this. You may get a small boost to your testosterone levels, but it's not going to mamke you grow significantly over night.
Supplement Myth: 2000+ Calorie Weight Gainer Shakes Will Take Your Results Through The Roof
Everyone's seen them before – 'Mass Gain 600', 'Ultimate Mass 800', or 'Mega Mass 1500'. These are extreme weight gainer products that are designed to really load up a high volume of calories into a liquid shake to help your quest for more muscle.
Some people fall for these thinking that the more often they can get these shakes into their day, the faster they grow muscle. The flaw however, is that after downing 2-3 of these day, they're growing fatter rather than more muscular.
Remember, your body can only build so much muscle per day and any calories taken in after that will be turned to body fat. Leave these high-cal shakes alone and prepare your own protein shake instead.
For better results, mix standard protein powder with ingredients you can control such as fruit, yogurt, milk, and peanut butter mixed in.
Supplement Myth: Taking Creating Will Automatically Make You Gain Muscle Faster
Another myth that far too many people fall for is that by using creatine, you'll automatically build more muscle. Some people think that's all it takes – get in the creatine and grow!
Not quite. What you must understand here is that creatine is only going to make it more possible to work harder and longer in the gym each time you do a workout. If that hard work isn't put in, creatinewon't provide any benefits. It's the increase in muscular energy that makes creatine a beneficial supplement to use.
Supplement Myth: There's A Best Supplement For Everyone
Another big supplement myth that many fall trapto is that there is a 'best' supplement for everyone. Perhaps you've heard your friend talking about a supplement that has got him showing more progress in the gym than he's ever seen before.
So you go out and buy that thinking, if it works for him, that must mean it will work for you as well. Remember, people will react differently to any given supplement and some will actually respond in a very negative manner. You can try the 'hot' supplement your training buddy is using, but don't get your hopes too high that it's going to change your body magically overnight.
Supplement Myth: A Supplement Will Let You Build Muscle and Burn Fat At Once
It's the age old goal – you want to build muscle and lose body fat. The problem with this is that these two goals are completely opposite processes in the body. One requires you be in an anabolic state while the other requires you to be in a calorie deficit, which is by nature catabolic.
It would be like trying to drive forwards and backwards at the same time – it's not going to happen.
Any supplement that claims to help you build fat and lose muscle you'll want to think twice about. While there may be some good supplements out there, none are going to outsmart biology.
Supplement Myth: You Can Replace Meals With Meal Replacement Powder
Finally the last supplement myth that you must be sure you don't let yourself fall for is that you can easily replace whole meals with meal replacement shakes. Far too many people pick up MRS's thinking it's the perfect solution to help them stick with their diet when life gets busy.
While those meal replacement shakes may have the protein, carbohydrates, and dietary fats you require, they won't supply you with all the necessary vitamins and minerals you require for overall health, not to mention provide no fiber whatsoever.
If you want to see best results, get your real food meals in. Supplements are meant to supplement your diet, so leave them in their place as that.
By getting yourself too wrapped up in all the different supplements out there, you're going to find you put less thought and consideration into your workout and diet program. You're best off choosing more simple supplements that have been proven over time and then putting the rest of your energy towards maximizing your training strategies.
