  1. Consume the proverbial 'three square meals a day'.

    Since your goal is to pack on more pounds, add muscle and mass to your body, it is important to eat three square meals a day without skipping breakfast, lunch or dinner.

  2. Snack regularly, throughout the day.

    One of the reasons why you are skinny is your body burns calories faster than what youa are eating. You can counteract this effect by consuming more calories than what your body burns within the day, so you can build up more body mass.

  3. Stop it with the diet soda!

    Diet soda, plain coffee and tea are non-caloric beverages. Instead of these, go for pure fruit juices, sports drinks or skimmed milk.

  4. Stick to calorie-dense foods to pack on the pounds.

    Potatoes, peas, corn, granola bars, bananas – to make sure that you are sticking with calorie-dense foods, always read the label.

  5. Exercise regularly.

    It doesn't mean that if your goal is to pack on the pounds, you can get away with not exercising! In fact, this is even more crucial so that you can gain muscle instead of fat while upping the ante in your diet.

  6. Steer clear of fatty foods.

    Again, your goal is to gain mass but not put on excessive weight. Not only will fatty foods increase your risks of heart problems – you might be gaining more weight than you bargained for. And it might be hard to lose later on.

  7. Drink lots of water.

    Water will keep you hydrated during one of those intense workouts, so drink up!

  8. Go moderate with carbs and pack on the protein.

    Since you are trying to gain weight, you can get away with eating a bit more carbs than usual. However, make sure to pack on protein at the same time – which is the key in helping build muscle.

  9. Get enough sleep!

    This applies to everyone – but especially those who are trying to gain weight.

  10. Do some weight training.

    Finally, do some short, intense weight trainings. This way, you can build up muscle and boost your body mass while packing on those pounds.
