Before you start thinking of bodybuilding or muscle building, the first thing to do is to get more informative about your body. You can read a lot about bodybuilding on internet. You will also get to know a large number of programs, free tips and advices, but at the end of the day, your success will largely depend on how well you have understood your body and its needs.
Getting to the basics, the first thing you should understand and realize is basic anatomy, you need to know where the major muscles group and organs are placed in your body. If you pick up any good bodybuilding program you will find such information in the first few chapters itself. The reason is simple. Bodybuilding topics talk and discuss about these muscle groups and their training. If you don't know exactly where they are and what they are, then all those discussion won't make any sense to you and over the time you will find yourself confused. There is no point of reading through those texts if you have not getting what they want to say.
When was the last time you measured your muscle size? Do you weigh yourself regularly? Most of the people jump into muscle building without taking initial measurements. After a few days they leave it complaining of no improvements. However it is not that way. Remember the changes are gradual and since everyday you look at yourself in the mirror, you won't be able to notice the changes that have taken place over time. So, take measurements and write them down. Another fantastic idea is to take pictures of yourself. The pictures should be taken from all angles. However, the catch is your ability to distinguish between pain and injury. Is the pain you are enduring normal or have you injured some muscle. The only way to understand and learn this is to listen to your body symptoms. If a certain action or exercise is causing extreme pain, it might be causing injury, figure that out and act accordingly.
Yeh, don't take bodybuilding as strolling around. Take it as a journey. Get planned and prepare a complete roadmap. Note down the workouts you are doing, note down the progress you have made in last week, fifteen days, month and so on. This will help you understand what is good for you and what helps you grow better. Then readjust your workouts accordingly.
Don't try to get everything done yourself. Either get a bodybuilding program or get someone who is knowledgable and can advice you in the right manner. Get a nutritionist to plan out your meals and diet structure. If you can then get a personal trainer who can plan things for you. Also, before you start pumping iron, do visit your doctor and make sure that everything is okay.
