5 Exercises For Insanely Busy People
You live a very busy lifestyle. Maybe you have a job that has long and demanding hours. On top of that you have a good distance that you need to commute to and from work. Maybe your career has you traveling quite often, flying all over the country. Maybe you are a stay at home mother who has kids to take care of along with all of your other daily tasks. No matter what your situation is, you know you are insanely busy and want to exercise but don't have time to get to the gym or the time for long, demanding workouts. You want a workout that will get your heart pumping, keep you in shape, yet won't demand all of your time. Well, you've come to the right article. Let's take a look at some exercises that you can put together into a quick routine that will keep you fit and ready for wherever life takes you.
A Short Workout: Intensity Is Key
Since you want to keep your time exercising as short as possible, it is important to keep it high intensity. This means workouts will be high energy with little rest in between exercises. By utilizing intense workouts, you'll benefit by:
- Keeping workouts short – 20 to 30 minutes.
- You'll challenge your body which will keep it from easily adapting so you'll get something from these short workouts: strength, conditioning, muscle growth, and muscle tone.
- The intensity will jump-start your metabolism which will stave off extra fat since eating healthy on a busy schedule without good planning can prove to be a difficult task.
Exercises For Those on The Go
Ok, let's take a look at various exercises that can be put together into a short workout of 20 to 30 minutes.
Push-Ups
These are great because they don't require any extra equipment and they can build upper body strength and muscle. Push-ups are also very versatile because you can do them anywhere and at anytime. There are also a number ways to add variation to push-ups to keep them challenging. You can work up to 100 push-ups, perform one-arm push-ups, incline push-ups, or perform push-ups with a clap in between. Everyone should do push-ups, so these are perfect for busy people on the go.
Squat hops
Squat hops are great for building strength in the lower body, especially the hamstrings, glutes (butt), and quadriceps. Again, this exercise is great because no equipment is needed. All you do is get into a stance with your legs shoulder with apart. Slowly squat down and then jump back up into the starting position. Squat hops are great for getting the heart pumping and they can be varied as well by changing the position of your feet. Keep your feet in close to work the quads and outer thighs. Spread your legs farther apart and the exercise will concentrate more on the inner thighs. I recommend doing 3 sets of 12 to 15 repetitions.
Crunches
Crunches are great for strengthening and toning the abdominals and core. Crunches don't require any special equipment and they can be done anywhere. All you need is some space on the floor and you are ready to go to work. Crunches are also nice because they don't put a strain on your lower back. Work your way up to where you can do a few sets of 25 or even 50 at a time. I add resistance by holding either a small hand weight or a medicine ball.
Bicep Curl Into A Shoulder Press
Two small hand weights, 10 to 15 pounds, or some resistance bands are always a good idea to have with you in the car or office. They don't take up much room and they can really add some intensity to a workout, whether you are on the go or at home. This exercise is easy, all you do is take the weight or resistance in each hand, do a bicep curl with both hands at the same time. At the top of the curl, turn your palms so they face outward and push the weight up so that both hands are fully extended upward (like you are performing a military press). Do a few sets of 8 to 12 repetitions and you will definitely know that you worked your biceps and shoulders as you'll have a pretty good pump going.
The exercises in this article can be performed anywhere, at any time, and with little to no equipment. They are perfect for anyone who lives a busy lifestyle and has no time to get to a gym. The workout is also easy on the wallet as the exercises can be done with only the weight of your body. No equipment or pricey gym memberships needed. When I have a really busy day, I perform the workout in my office with the door shut. The exercises provide a high intensity workout that gets your heart thumping, your muscles pumping and your emotions jumping for joy. I feel great after the workout and my day stays on track as the workout doesn't chew up my valuable time.
